Happy New Year from the Washington DC NECA Chapter   Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

We have made it through 2021 and what a year it was!    The Chapter is ready to start the new year strong! Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and camaraderie. We strive to go above and beyond for our members.    Looking forward to 2022!  

New NECA National Website 
NECA National’s website has recently been updated. There are many changes that all members will need to be aware of.  Upon everyone’s first visit to necanet.org all users will need to reset their password. This short video is a guide to how to do this. Once this is done, users will be able to log in using their email address and new password. The login/email address is replacing the previous User ID number. 

NECA National has also has created the below short training videos to tour the new website. Please review the videos below; each is only a couple of minutes long.

NECA Manual of Labor Units
NECA MLU 2021-2022 edition is now available. This edition features new labor units for cable bus, conduit tags, all-threaded hanger rods, coaxial cable, traffic light camera controls and much more.

To provide all NECA members with more options, NECA National is releasing an all-new web subscription to enhance user experience. The subscription features the ability to export sections to excel, utilize calculators, customize column factoring and more.

Each NECA member company is able to request a free copy of the MLU each cycle —each NECA member company will get one seat of access to the new web subscription (a $385 value)

Memorandum from IBEW & NECA
Job Start Forms – Any jobs worked under the Regional Agreement are required to submit a Job Start Form when  a project is secured under a Fourth District Regional Agreement.

Job Start Forms are extremely important. They notify the local union business manager that a project has been secured under the Regional Agreement, alerts the business manager that this project will be worked under different terms and conditions than the Inside Agreement, and that CW and CE classifications may be working on the project.

EWTF Tax Forms in My Benefits Center 
Members can go to www.ewtf.org and log into their My Benefits Center account to access W2, 1099-R, and 1095-B tax form in the Document Center.

Tax Year 2020 is now loaded, and Tax Year 2021 is scheduled to be available no later than January 31, 2022.

How to Access Tax Forms from My Benefits Center:  Go to www.ewtf.org Log into “My Benefits Center”
   
 3.  Navigate to “Document Center”.
 4.  From the “Document” tab (middle tab between “Inbox” and “Upload”), click on the dropdown box that   indicates “Forms”.


5. Select “Tax Forms from the dropdown and your Tax Forms will appear!

Washington, DC NECA offers education to our members through Capital Contractors Institute (CCI) and NECA National training courses. Please frequently check the CCI website and  NECA National website for the most current educational courses.


NECA offers many webinars and courses through the NECA Learning Center. Most courses are offered online and can cost $0-$100. Here are some examples of courses you can find at the NECA Learning Center:   *You will need your personal NECA National login and password.

Succession Planning – Virtual

The purpose of this program is to discuss the different ways to transfer ownership from the founders to children, key employees, or independent third parties. Identify how to determine who you r successor will be. Explain what is necessary for succession to be successful for your business. Apply various methods to see what fits for your company. Discuss why every company needs a solid succession plan.

Valuing Diversity in the Workplace
Registration Fee: $10.00Understanding and promoting diversity is an important part of every organization. With more and more businesses hiring diverse workers, establishing a fair and equitable work environment is a must. Participants will learn strategies to combat discrimination and harassment in workplace, while learning how to understand and correct their own biases and behaviors. They will be shown how to build and encourage diversity in their workplace and community.

SAFETY  
The Washington, DC NECA Chapter has been diligently working to keep up with the latest developments regarding COVID-19.

It is our top priority to provide support to all members. With the understanding and dedication of our membership we have transitioned some of our in-person events/programs to an online platform to ensure the safety and well-being of our member contractors. 


Safety on necanet.org
NECA National is constantly working to update the safety tools and resources on necanet.org. The Safety section includes the latest industry standards and regulations issued by consensus and regulatory entities.

These resources are valuable tools that can help members and industry professionals with their company safety programs.   

OSHA January 2022 Press Release 
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a press release today reminding employers that the agency began collecting 2021 Form 300A data on Jan. 2, 2022. Employers must submit the form electronically by March 2, 2022.

Electronic submissions are required by establishments with 250 or more employees. It is currently required to keep OSHA injury and illness records and establishments with 20-249 employees classified in specific industries with historically high rates of occupational injuries and illnesses.

OSHA 300A Posting
Members are reminded that OSHA 300A Forms should be posted where they can be viewed by employees starting February 1 – April 30, 2022 For more information please reference Here. 

Virginia Safety and Health Codes Board
Federal OSHA held a conference call with the State Plans representatives on December 21, 2021. The meeting informed those affected that they are required to adopt the 2nd OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard (2nd OSHA ETS), Vaccination or Testing Mandate by January 24th . Virginia does have a COVID-19 standard, it does not have a vaccination or testing mandate.

The Virginia Safety and Health Board will be holding a special meeting to address the integration of vaccine and weekly testing by February 5, 2022. For more information please review here
